MT OPHIR ADVENTURE PROGRAMME 10-12 NOV

CCHY NCC (Air) has been allocated 3 places for the MT OPHIR ADVENTURE PROGRAMME from 10 - 12 November. Interested Part C cadets, please see Mr Victor Tan by 18 Novemeber for application form. The Mt Ophir Adventure Programme offers 3 Days & 2 Nights of adventure training. The NCC organizes Mt Ophir Adventure Programme for selected Part C cadets as part of the adventurous training provided to the cadets. It is also part of the incentive programme to reward deserving cadets, who have been outstanding in training. The purpose of the training is to provide them with interesting, challenging, educational, enjoyable and adventurous activities. It is also to expose cadets to a new environment and terrain in natural surroundings. The training will emphasize and focus on Leadership Training, Character Building and Adventure Training. MEDICAL CHECK UP AND APPLICATION FORM All participants are to go for medical check up on their own and to get the doctor to complete the Medical Examination Report and to submit to their respective DCs. The application form is attached in Annex B. Respective DCs are to ensure that the Medical Check-ups are completed. PRE-REQUISITE : TO PASS NAPFA To ensure that participants have a certain level of fitness to climb Mt. Ophir, all applicants must submit their current NAPFA result with their application forms to their respective District Commanders. It is a pre-requisite for all participants to pass the NAPFA test before they can embark on this trip. All participating Cadets are to co-pay a fixed rate of $30 (non-refundable) payable to Vendor for the programme. However the NCC Teacher-Officers will be fully subsidized. All District Commanders are to collect the payment by cheque or cashier order payable to Vendor – name to be made known at a later date to DCs and District CSOs. All participants must be aware that if they fail to attend the training, they must pay in full for all costs incurred by National Cadet Corps. Minus Day 1 2000 hrs Report to HQ NCC Campus to stay in for the night Day 1 0615 hrs Breakfast at at HQ NCC Campus 0700 hrs Assemble at NCC HQ 0710 hrs Depart for Johor Immigration via 2nd Link 0800 hrs Proceed to Gunung Ledang Resort, stopover at Yong Peng for a short break 1145 hrs Arrive & Lunch at Gunung Ledang Resort 1245 hrs Distrbution of rooms and check in. 1330 hrs Briefing on outdoor activities; ice breaking session 1400 hrs Outdoor activities –Flying Fox; Jungle obstacle challenge. 1700 hrs Freshen up and rest. 1900 hrs Dinner time. 2000 hrs Debrief on the outdoor experiences; identifying team issues; action plans; briefing on next day’s trekking activities and distribution of food and camping equipments. 2200 hrs Lights Off; Good Night. Day 2 0630 hrs Rise and shine 0700 hrs Breakfast 0730 hrs Transfer by bus to National Park trail. 0800 hrs Warm up and stretching exercise 0830 hrs Begin the day full of excitement trekking to summit of Mt Ophir. 1030 hrs Arrive at CP 3; short rest. 1100 hrs Begin trekking to summit via PENDITA trail. 1300 hrs Arrive at Majapahit check point, rest and have packed lunch. 1330 hrs Continue trekking to summit. 1430 hrs Arrive at summit – enjoy "Top of the World " feeling; photo taking session. 1500 hrs Begin to descend to campsite via Telecom trails 1730 hrs Arrive at campsite – National Park Guard Post (1000 ft.asl ) set up tents, wash up and rest. 1900 hrs Dinner time, enjoy dinner amidst the tropical rainforest and scenic Ledang Reservoir view. 2000 hrs Free and easy 2200 hrs Lights off; sweet dream. Day 3 0700 hrs Rise and Shine 0800 hrs Breakfast 0830 hrs Begin trekking down to foothill 1000 hrs Arrive at the estate pick up point, transfer by bus to the resort 1030 hrs Arrive at the resort; wash up and rest 1200 hrs Enjoy a well deserving lunch at the resort 1300 hrs Debrief and certificate presentation 1330 hrs Depart for home. 1730 hrs Arrive in Singapore, drop off at Yio Chu Kang MRT/ NCC HQ.

FOR 6th BASIC AEROMODELLING WINGS COURSE 2010

Cadets involved: CPL LEE HENG SHENG LUCAS CPL KOO ZHI CAI CPL SAW PIN FEN Anyone else interested, please see Mr Victor Tan by 15 Oct 2010. The 6th Basic Aeromodelling Wings Course is a modular course that will be conducted every Saturday over a span of 6 weeks. The 6th Basic Aeromodelling Wings Course will be conducted from 6th November 2010 to 11th December 2010. There will be a pre-course briefing conducted on 29 October 2010 at 1400 hours in the NCC Theatrette as well as a Simulator Assessment on 30th October 2010 at 0900 hours in HQ NCC. The primary objective of this course is to assess the cadets to become Radio Control Aeromodellers so that they will be able to carry out Radio Control Flying in their respective Squadrons and also in HQ NCC. At the end of this course , cadets should be able to achieve the following: a. Perform basic manoeuvres such as Take Off, Climbing Descending, Medium-level Turns & landing on a 2 Channel Foam RC Aircraft. b. In-depth knowledge on Basic Aviation, Basic Radio Control Flying Techniques, RC Equipments, Safety & maintenance. The cadets that graduate from this course will be issued with the Silver Aeromodellers’ Wings. These cadets will be eligible to attend the Advance Aeromodelling Wings Course and achieve the Gold Aeromodellers’ Wing at a later date. TRANSPORT No transport will be provided for this course. Trainees and Instructors will have to make their own way to HQ NCC over the duration of the course. MEALS Meals will not be provided as the course is a modular course and cadets will be dismissed either before lunchtime or be asked to report to HQ NCC after lunchtime based on the schedule. Further details will be given once the nominal roll is confirmed. NOMINATION OF PARTICIPANTS Cadets attending this course should fulfill the following prerequisites: a. Part B/C cadets. b. Have some knowledge of Aeromodelling and has enough flight time on the Simulator programme to go solo*. c. Course will include only practice sessions, written test and flight assessment. *Note that cadets who fail the Simulator Assessment will not be allowed to attend the Course. Please ensure that the nominated cadets do have sufficient flight time. REPORTING ATTIRE, TIME AND VENUE 7. The Cadets will be required to attend the pre-course briefing conducted on 29 October 2010 at 1400 hours in their school uniform. Further details of the course will be given to them as well as the pre-course lectures to prepare them for the course. CRITERIA FOR AWARD OF BASIC AEROMODELLING WING 8. 100% Attendance during the Pre-course briefing and the Basic Aeromodelling Wings Course 9. Pass the following Written Tests (75% passing mark): a. Basic Aviation Knowledge & Radio control Flying b. Radio Control equipments & Materials c. Safety & Maintenance Procedures/Practices 10. Pass the Basic Radio Control Flying test according to the following requirements: a. Perform pre-flight checks on the aircraft ( servo/channel setting, motor setting, trimming, Centre of gravity check) b. Able to Take off. c. Maintain Straight & Level d. Perform Medium Level Turns e. Circuits When the trainees have met these criteria, they will graduate from the course and will be presented with the Basic Aeromodelling Wing. As the main objective of the Basic Aeromodelling Wings Course is to train cadets to ensure the continuity of Aeromodelling Programme in the squadrons, it is imperative that the required number of cadets attends the course. Attendance is important for the BUC as marks will be allocated for the number of graduates.
