CHANGE IN MKE (MINI-KAYAKING EXPEDITION) DATES

Those who have applied for the AKE selections, that in the event that you make it to the MKE phase, the MKE dates have been shifted a week earlier to 9-10 April. The original dates stated in the AI was 16-17 April. The actual allocation of the cadets into the two phases will be sent out once the 1st and 2nd selections are carried out in March.

CADET PROMOTION TO THE RANK OF SSG IN A SCHOOL UNIT

NCC Units provide ample opportunity for senior cadets to hold responsible position in the school units. As senior cadets are given greater leading roles in the organization, HQ NCC will create more opportunity for them to be promoted to a higher rank in the school unit.

The 5 top Part C cadets in the school unit will be short-listed to attend the Senior Specialist Course conducted in September at HQ NCC. They will be promoted to SSG after the completion of the course. They will don their SSG rank and wear the Lanyard. The possible appointments assigned to them in the school unit are:

a. Unit Sergeant Major (USM). b. Assistant Unit Sergeant Major (ASM). c. Part A – Company Sergeant Major (CSM). d. Part B – Company Sergeant Major (CSM). e. Part C – Company Sergeant Major (CSM). GUIDELINES FOR CADET PROMOTION TO SSG (LOCAL RANK) WITHOUT ATTENDING THE SENIOR SPECIALIST COURSE

Commanding Officer of the school unit is empowered to recommend the promotion of the next 5 top cadets in the school unit whom are not given the opportunity to attend the Senior Specialist Course conducted in September at HQ NCC. District Commander will be the Approving Authority. They can be promoted to SSG (local rank) at the same time of the top 5 cadets’ promotion exercise. They will don their SSG rank and will not wear the Lanyard.

The possible appointments assigned to them in the school unit are:

a. Admin In-Charge (IC). b. Logistic In-Charge (IC). c. Company In-Charge (IC). d. Platoon In-Charge (IC). e. Drill In-Charge (IC).

TRAINING SESSION OF NATIONAL AIRFIX AERONAUTICAL MODEL ENGINEERING COMPETITION

This workshop is for Part B cadets who have signed up with Mr Victor Tan. Date: 16 Mar 2011 Time: 9.00 am. The training will begin at 9.00 am and end at 3.00 pm. Reporting time and venue: 8am outside General Office Venue: Aerospace Hub at Blk 46, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Cadets will be grouped into 6 members a group to work on the models. Cadets will learn how to build a silver coloured Airfix1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX. The model is selected, the Spitfire Mk XIX, because it was the last operation RAF Spitfire, and last flew from Seletar Airport. 1. Humbrol 33 - matt black, price $3.80 2. Humbrol 24 - yellow, price $3.80 3. Humbrol 70 - exhaust brick red, price $3.80 4. Humbrol 61 - fresh, price $3.80 5. Humbrol 230 PRU blue - price $3.80 5. Humbrol spray primer, price $13.90 6. There is also the Swann-Morton Trimaway knives at $3.50 each. Thus the budget for a team of 6 students is: Airfix Spitfire $15.25 x 6 = $91.50 Humbrol paint tins $3.80 x 4 = $15.20 Humbrol sprays $13.90 x 4 = $55.60 Humbrol prec poly cement $7.90 x 2 = $15.80 Swann-Morton Trimaway $3.50 x 7 = $24.80 Total = $202.90 (or an average of $33.81 / student)
