Change of date for interview for Pearce Air Base Visit and Glider Course

All Part C cadets who have or are applying for the Pearce Air Base Visit and Glider Course, please note that the date for the interview has been brought forward to the 20th , instead of the 26th Nov 2008. Though the date has changed, the selection criteria has not. ONLY SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES WILL BE NOTIFIED TO GO FOR THE INTERVIEW. Since the closing date for application is 19th, I think you will be notified about your status before or on the 19th itself. Consequently, those who did not receive any would naturally mean that they are not selected. All the best to all the applicants! :P

SBAB ATTACHMENT 2008

A group of 1 senior specalist and 6 Specialists attended the SBAB attachment from 12 to 14 Nov 2008. It was really a good experience as we had the privilege to tour around and look at different parts of RSAF’s weapons, vehicles and aircraft.
On 12 Nov, we first proceeded to the Officers’ Mess where we were introduced to RSAF aircrafts and learnt about their various uses. After which, we had the CH-47 (Chinook) joyride. Although the ride lasted for only 15 mins, it was an experience of a lifetime as the enormous tail door was not closed during the entire flight, leaving us exposed to the outside even when the Chinook was airborne, giving us an excellent view of the island. Safety was not much of a worry as the safety officer on duty ensured that we were secure during the flight.
On 13 Nov, we learnt about the different equipment that RSAF used and how they maintained the standards of their aircraft. We then experienced 2 different aircraft simulators where the virtual effects felt really real.
On 14 Nov, we visited Chong Pang camp where we were introduced to mainly RSAF ground equipment and weapons by the officers and specialists.
With this, I conclude the end of my report on this year’s attachment.
