1st ADVANCE AEROMODELLING WINGS COURSE 2010

INTRODUCTION Following the introduction of the Basic Aeromodelling Wings Course which teaches cadets basic radio control flying, NCC (Air) is proud to announce the commencement of the 1st Advance Aeromodelling Wings Course. This course will enhance the knowledge of the Aeromodellers and take them to greater heights.

The 1st Advance Aeromodelling Wings Course will be conducted from 25th January 2010 to 20th March 2010. It is approximately a 3 month long course and cadets will have to fulfill requirements which will be spelt out in this paper.

OBJECTIVE

The 1st Advance Aeromodelling Wings Course is designed to train cadets to be competent radio control aeromodelling cadet instructors in the National Cadet Corps (Air). Cadets will be based in their own school squadron to train their peers and juniors basic RC flying. Cadets will be trained in the following:
    1. Simulators: Basic Aerobatics.
    2. Flying: General Handling Flying revision, Basic Aerobatics, Basic Kite flying, Indoor Flying & Night Flying.
    3. Construction: Building ARF 3D kits and practical initial set up of RC aircrafts.
    4. Instructor training: Buddy cord Flying (Master) and presentation/trainer skills (Confidence building).
    5. Theory: Refer to AAWC manual.
    6. Field Trips: Cadets will have field trips to 2 established flying clubs in Singapore, Bukit Batok Aeromodelling Flying Club (Helicopters) and Radio Modellers’ Singapore (Aircrafts). There, members of each club will talk and answer questions from participating cadets. There will also be demonstrations from both clubs to show R/C Helicopters and Aircraft flying capabilities.
At the end of the course, cadets will be awarded with an Advanced Aeromodelling Wings (AAW) certificate and wing.

TRANSPORT

No transport will be provided for this course. Trainees and Instructors will have to make their own way to HQ NCC on each day.

MEALS

Lunch will only be catered on Saturdays which include construction training which extends beyond 1500hrs.

NOMINATION OF PARTICIPANTS

Each Squadron are to send their nominations to Mr Khairul Rusydi. In order to participate in this course, cadets must meet the following pre-requisites

    1. Possess a Basic Aeromodelling Wings Course (BAWC) Certificate and Wing.
    2. Pass a pre-admission assessment which will be conducted on the Aerofly Simulator program to ensure that their flying capabilities are current.

REPORTING ATTIRE, TIME AND VENUE

As the Advance Aeromodelling Wings Course has an in-depth syllabus, the course will be conducted from January to March through series of sessions that will be conducted on weekdays after school hours and Saturday mornings. Weekday sessions will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1400hrs to 1730hrs each day. This will cover Flying / Simulator training. Each cadet has to fulfil a minimum of 10 sessions which each session will last minimum of 2 hrs. Cadets are to do their own bookings through Mr Khairul Rusydi. There will be 6 Saturdays in which they will cover Lectures, Construction, Field Trip and Assessments. Attendance is compulsory on all Saturdays. All nominated Cadets are to attend the 1st AAWC Opening/Refresher which will be held on the 23rd of January 2010, 0900hrs, Saturday. The Course Completion dateline is 20th March 2010. The graduation and wings ceremony will be held on this date and cadets that do not meet requirements will have to continue their own training and hope to graduate with the next course.

CRITERIA FOR AWARD OF ADVANCE AEROMODELLING WING

Cadets are to meet the following requirements in order to obtain the Advance Aeromodelling Wing:
    1. 100% Attendance on the 6 Saturday Trainings and complete 10 Weekday Flying/Simulator sessions.
    2. Pass Advanced Theory Assessment (Theory)
    3. Pass Buddy Cord (Master) Assessment (Practical)
    4. Pass Presentation Assessment (Practical)
    5. Pass Aircraft Set-Up Assessment (Practical)
    6. Able to plan Aeromodelling Training Programme for their respective Air Squadrons.

CONCLUSION

Cadets that graduate from the Advance Aeromodelling Wings course will be proficient to conduct Radio Control training in their respective squadrons. These cadets will also be eligible to be selected as a member of the Air Knights and perform at NCC and National Events. The 1st event that these cadets will be training for will be the 10th Affirmation Ceremony which will be held on the 10th April 2010. Attendance is important for BUC as marks will be allocated for the number of graduates.

PART C TRAIN FIRE ON 1 FEBRUARY 2010

All Part C cadets are to take note that train fire will be held on Monday, 1st February. Cadets are to leave class by 1200hr to have their lunch and change into No. 4 Uniform. Cadets are to fall in outside the General Office by 1230hr. Cadets Involved: All Part C cadets. Attire: No. 4 Uniform Time and date: 1230hr outside General Office on 1st February.
