3rd NCC FREESTYLE DRILL COURSE

Cadets involved: CPL Erwin Dayan & CPL Nabil HQ NCC with be conducting the 3rd Freestyle Drill Course at NCC Campus. The non – residential course would be from 23rd to 26th Nov 2009. PRE – COURSE BRIEFING: Sergeant Major NCC will be conducting a pre course briefing on 17 Nov 09, 1530 hr at the NCC Campus, Multi Purpose Hall. Participants are to be attired in school uniform or no.4 uniform for the pre course brief. Venue & Reporting: Location: NCC Campus, Multi Purpose Hall Timing: Daily at 0800 hr (Report to 3SG Ivan Ng at the MPH for attendance taking. ) Attire: No. 4 uniform and bring along a school or NCC T shirt for training purposes. TRANSPORTATION Ferry Service will be provided from Yio Chu Kang MRT station to NCC Campus and vice versa on the first and last day of the course at the following timings: Morning: 0700 to 0800 hr Evening: 1730 to 1830 hr PERSONAL CONDUCT Participants are expected to display an acceptable standard of conduct, bearing and discipline throughout the course. Participants are expected to have a decent hair-cut for the course. This course would definitely benefit the Cadets as they would be able to choreograph the drill movements and promote creativity to make drill fun but yet challenging.

NCC FITNESS PROGRAMME 2009

Cadets Involved: Jonathon Luke, Richard Chua INTRODUCTION Senior NCC Cadets are tasked to conduct fitness training in their School Units for their junior cadets. There is a need to bridge the information gap so that NCC Cadets would be able to derive maximum benefits from the fitness training without any adverse effects. The NCC Fitness Programme will be a residential programme conducted by instructors from the SAF Army Fitness Centre and Trainers from NCC Training Cadre from 24 to 25 Nov 09 in NCC Campus, Amoy Quee Camp. PROGRAMME The 2-day NCC Fitness Training Programme will provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to conduct fitness training lessons effectively, safely and with fun-element for a small-size class. Evaluation Component: All participants must pass the Theory Test and able to perform satisfactorily in all the Fitness activities during the practical sessions. Method of Instruction. There would be a combination of theory and practical lessons so that the participants would be able to experience the fitness training activities advocated in the programme. The Training Programme is shown in Annex A. ADMINSTRATIVE AND LOGISTICS MATTERS Reporting Attire, Date, Time and Venue: All Participants are to report in No 4 Uniform on 24 Nov 09 at 0815 hrs to the NCC Campus Accommodation Blk 246. The respective District Specialists are to record the attendance of their cadets and hand over the cadets to the Conducting Officer. Participants who are late may be considered out of course. Personal Conduct: Participants are reminded to display an acceptable standard of conduct, bearing and discipline throughout the programme. They are expected to have a decent haircut. Participants who do not meet the required standards will have to get their hair cut to pass the course. Accommodation: Accommodation will be provided for all participants during the programme. Medical Issues: Part B Cadets who are on prevailing medical conditions are strongly advised not to attend the programme. Camp Security: Cameras, camera handphones or any image capturing device is strictly prohibited in the Camp premises. Meals: All Cadets are to consume their breakfast before coming for the programme. Thereafter all meals will be provided till end of the programme. Personal Kit List: A list of personal items required for the programme is given below. Cadets are advised not to bring valuables to the Camp. HQ NCC will not be responsible for any items lost during the camp. NCC FITNESS COURSE 2009 PERSONAL KIT LIST 1. Fitness training that is effective, safe and yet fun would help to develop a fitness culture amongst the cadets, so that they would continue to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle. NCC BEACH AND PARKS CLEANING 2009 EXERCISE

Cadets Involved: ALL PART A Senior Spec Involved: SSG Avion Lim 1. The NCC Island-wide Beach and Park Cleaning Day 2009 will be held on Monday, 02 November 2009 from 1500 hrs to 1700 hrs at 5 different locations simultaneously. The Guest-of-Honour for each location will be the District Commanders. 2. The 5 Districts will be cleaning their respective parks as part of the NCC Beach and Park Cleaning Day 2009. The locations assigned are: Bukit Batok Nature Park- West Sembawang Park- Central Upper Seletar Reservoir- Sea Punggol Park- Air East Coast Park - East 3. The teams will be led by the respective District Commanders and assisted by the District Training Officers and Specialists. 1000 cadets and NCC officers will be mobilised for the activity. 4. 250 Cadets from Part A will be drawn from school units in the respective Districts. Cadets from each school unit will be wearing their School T-shirt and School PT shorts and shoes. They will be accompanied by 1 teacher officer and 1 Senior Specialist (to ensure appropriate teacher-student ratio). 5. Units are required to report by 1430 hrs at the Form Up Point (FUP) where they will be issued a pair of plastic gloves, 1 trash bag (per pair) and one bottle of water. Cadets will be divided into groups and assigned an area to clean under the supervision of a teacher officer from their school units. 6. On completion of the activity all cadets will proceed to the FUP where there will be a photo taking session followed by the disposal of trash bags. 7. The sequence of the event will be as follows: 1430 to 1530 hrs - Reporting of cadets & Safety Briefing 1530 hrs - GOH to arrive 1535 hrs - Speech by GOH 1540 hrs - Commencement of Beach/Park Cleaning Activity 1640 hrs - Cadets return/photo taking 1700 hrs - End of Activity

RSAF ATTACHMENT TO SBAB - 09 November 2009 to 11 November 2009

Under the RSAF/NCC (Air) Affiliation Scheme, the NCC (Air) attachment to RSAF Programme is carried out annually in Sembawang Air Base for Part C Cadets. This year the programme is scheduled for Monday 09 November 2009 to Wednesday 11 November 2009 whereby about 120 NCC (Air) cadets/officers will be attached to Sembawang Air Base for 3 days. Chung Cheng High Yishun is required to send 7 cadets (must include all the 5 Senior Specialists) for this Sembawang Air Base Attachment. All participants are required to bring their Student Pass/EZ Link Card for verification and in case of an emergency. Any participant who misbehaves shall be liable to be disqualified from the competition, including disciplinary actions. Teacher officers must ensure that all participants have completed their technical handling test for 2009 before they go to the range. The course will cover 7 advance arms drills and also train the participants on the conduct of drill as an Auxiliary Instructor. Take note that any cadets on nominal roll who failed to report for the Course, the school will be issued a bill amounting up to the payment of $60.00 for the cost of the indented ration for the full Camp dates (working on a basis of $15.00 per day). ELECTRONIC DEVICES Please be reminded that cameras, camera hand phones, laptops, thumbdrives, MP3 players (these come with storage capacity), PSPs and any electronic device capable of storing data are strictly prohibited in the camp complex. The guards and military police attached to every camp will thoroughly check through each individual personnel at the gate. You are advised to thoroughly check your bags before proceeding to Camp. If possible, all this electronic devices should be left at home. COURSE AI: Kindly note that the location of the course will be at Pasir Laba Camp, School of Infantry Specialist (SISPEC). Course participants are to meet Mr Ramesh outside CCHY General Office @ 7.30am where transport arrangement has been made to send all of you there. However if you have missed the transport arrangement, please make your way to Singapore Discovery Centre Bus Bay, which is walking distance from Joo Koon MRT station, where a ferry service would be provided to transport the cadets to SISPEC. All Course participants will report by 0830 hours at Singapore Discovery Centre Bus Bay to be transported to SISPEC for in-processing. Cadet Officers will be posted to guide the participants. The course is expected to end at approximately 1800 hr on the last day of the course. Ferry Service from SISPEC to Singapore Discovery Centre Bus Bay would be provided. All Course participants must report in their No.4 uniform with beret. All male cadets are reminded to spot a neat haircut, failing which they will not be permitted to join the course. FREESTYLE DRILL TRAINING ON TUESDAY 28 JULY 2009

In line with the MOE National Education Framework, all Part A cadets would undergo a specially crafted ½ day field trip based on the Head, Heart and Hands approach. [b]AIM[/b] To help Part A Cadets appreciate the need for a strong and capable SAF through a battle field trail, focusing on leadership competency, warfare tactics and local contribution to the defence of Singapore during WWII. PROGRAMME The cadets would undergo a ½ day amazing race format trail using mobile technology and GPS tracking system. Each group of 10 would be accompanied by a facilitator provided by the vendor. They are to accomplish different tasks at the checkpoints located along the trail such as Fort Canning Park, Cathy Building, Singapore Art Museum and the Cenotaph. Each district is to select a maximum of 120 cadets and teacher officers for each field trip. ADMINSTRATIVE AND LOGISTICS MATTERS Reporting Attire, Date, Time and Venue: All Part A cadets must be accompanied by their respective schools’ Teacher Officers dressed in the appropriate attire for this activity. All participants are to report in school or NCC P.T top and No 4 pants at Fort Canning Park, Carpark B Battlebox, at 1300 hrs. The in-processing of the participants and Teacher Officers will be managed at District level. By 1730 hrs, all cadets and teacher officers would assemble and be dismissed at the Lim Bo Seng Memorial, Connaught Drive. Teacher officers are strongly advised not to book their transportation back to the respectively schools before the stated time for dismissal. Snacks: Teacher Officers would have to ensure that all participants are equipped with a water bottle. Snacks and additional water would be provided by the vendor. Safety: Teacher officers would be required to accompany their cadets on the field trip and HQ NCC would provide one representative along to monitor the programme. Nominal Rolls: Nominal rolls for the event must be collated by the Districts and submitted to the vendor before the event. Late submissions would not be entertained. Upon completion of the field trip, all cadets are eligible to collect their Total Defence Badge (Bronze). HQ NCC Representative: There will be a HQ representative from the corresponding district who will accompany the participants for each visit. The roles of the HQ representative would include monitoring the training, providing feedback and marking the attendance of the participants. He is to ensure that the attendance taken tallies with that taken by LDR and he is to submit a copy of the marked nominal roll with a summarized total to Training Branch after the training. Allocation: Districts are to send at least 100 cadets each for each visit. School units are to ensure that all the cadets turn up for the trip as indicated in the nominal roll. The school unit is responsible for providing replacements for cadets who are unable to turn up. School units with absentees will be required to bear the cost of the training at $45 per cadet. H1N1 Precautionary Measures Infection Control: To minimize the risk of H1N1 and other infectious diseases, all participants are required to take their temperature before embarking on the trip. The escorting Teacher Officer of each school is to ensure that cadets who have a fever are not allowed to participate and a replacement sent instead.

AIR COMPETITION 2009

HQ NCC (AIR) will be organizing the annual Air Competition on 4th September 2009. The heats will be carried out from 21 August 2009 onwards starting at 1400 hrs on each day. The top 4 teams from each heat in their respective categories will compete during the finals for the top 3 positions. The finals will be held on a Friday afternoon, 4 September 2009, 1400 hrs. The competition is open to all NCC (Air) cadets who are trained in Control-Line flying. (Max. of 2 teams per squadron for each category) This year’s competition also aims to increase the awareness and proficiency of Remote-Control through the RC Simulator Competition. COMPETITION SYSTEM Categories: 1) *Part A Aircraft Design Competition (10 BUC Points) 2) *Part B, ½ A Electric C/L Rat Race Junior (20 BUC Points) 3) *Part C, ½ A Electric C/L Rat Race (40 BUC Points) 4) ^R/C Simulator Precision Landing & Precision Targeting * Schools are to send min 1 team in these categories. Best Unit Competition Points allocation for the line control categories; 40% Attendance, 60% Performance (based on timings). ^ Bonus points will be given for participation in the RC Simulator Category All participants will report for registration by 1400hrs at the Multi Purpose Hall for all heats and finals. Directional signs will be posted to lead them to the reporting point. Muslim cadets that attend Friday prayers must report by 1500hrs. The heats/finals are expected to end by approximately 1800hrs. All participants must report in their No.4 uniform. They are to bring along a T-shirt, as they have to change into their half-uniform attire during the duration of the competition. Spectators are to be dressed in their No.3 Uniform. Late-comers coming after 1415hrs (1500hrs for Muslim Cadets) without a valid excuse will not be allowed to register for the heats/finals. All teams are to attend the finals on 4th September 2009 regardless of their position during the heats. All teams will be receiving participation certificates/medal at the end of the finals and refreshments have been arranged.

AIRBORNE COURSE 2009

Our congratulations to SSG ASHRY AWYONG for successfully completed the Airborne Course held from 4 Jun at 0730 hrs to 2 July 09 and awarded the SAF Airborne Wing. SSG ASHRY was also awarded the BEST COURSE TRAINEE. Well done, Ashry! The Basic Airborne Course is open to all NCC Cadet Officers and Cadets to offer them a more interesting, adventurous and challenging type of training. Interested NCC Officers (male and female) who are physically fit may also apply for the course, subject to availability of vacancies. The Basic Airborne Course was conducted over a grueling one month periood, inclusive of preparatory ground training and parachute descent. The Course was conducted at Parachute Wing (PW), Special Operations Tactical Support Centre, Hendon Camp, Changi.

BEST FLYER IN 3RD BASIC AEROMODELING INSTRUCTOR COURSE

Our congratulations to CPL YAP DUAN FENG for successfully completed BASIC AEROMODELING INSTRUCTOR COURSE held from 6 Jun 09 at 0730 hrs to 24 June 09 and was awarded the Aeromodeling Instructor badge. CPL DUAN FENG is now one of the qualified Line Control instructors in CCHY NCC AIR. CPL DUAN FENG was also awarded BEST FLYER. Well done, Duan Feng! SINGAPORE NATIONAL AEROMODELLING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

Our school participated in this year's Singapore National Aeromodelling Championships 2009 by sending 3 teams. The cadets involved were CPL YAP DUAN FENG, CPL GAINES GOH, CPL OH YONG XIANG, CPL RICHARD CHUA, CPL YEO KAI CHENG and LCP NABIL. We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to CPL YAP DUAN FENG and CPL OH YONG XIANG for beating other strong competitors to come in 2ND POSITION in the Line-control Junior Rat Race category.

Airfix Cup 2009 - The Ngee Ann Challenge!

The 2009 National Airfix Aeronautical Model Engineering Competition, also affectionately known among the local scale modelling community as "Airfix Cup", was successfully held this time round, at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The Airfix Cup was initiated by Mr. Peter Chiang from Hobby Bounties as a scale modelling competition (cum network and mingling session!) for the scale modelling community. CANCELLATION OF TRAINING DUE TO H1N1

All cadets are to note that there will be NO rehearsal, training or weekly parade this week. However, there will be a rehearsal for Youth Day Concert this Wednesday 1st July. All participants involved must report to the MPH at 2pm. Students who have classes will be excused. Attire is either school uniform or PE Shirt with school pants. ADMIN INSTRUCTION FOR 3RD AEROMODELLING INSTRUCTOR COURSE

The 3rd Aeromodelling Instructor Course is a 3 day 2 Night residential course and will be held from 22nd June 2009 to 24th June 2009. For the 3 days stay-in course, cadets will report in their No.3 uniform at 0800 hrs on the 22nd of June 2009 at Amoy Quee Camp, HQ NCC, BLK 245. Attendance for all days are compulsory. The trainees will be accommodated in BLK 246. No one will be allowed to stay out unless approved by Commander Air. CRITERIA FOR AWARD OF AEROMODELLING INSTRUCTOR WING 1. Trainees must be minimum PART B cadets. 2. 100% Attendance during the Pre-course Training and the Aeromodelling Instructor Course. 3. Pass the following Written Tests (75% passing mark): a. Basic Aviation Knowledge b. Basic Control Line Flying Knowledge 4. Pass the following Oral Test: a.Safety & Maintenance Procedures/Practices 5. Pass the Flying practice according to the following requirements: a. Lap Hands On Instructor Flying for 3 minutes for a group of 3 trainees.(1 minute per trainee) b. Full Hands On Instructor Flying for 3 minutes for a single trainee ( Instruct from takeoff up to landing of the aircraft) 6. JUNE CAMP 2009 (NON-RESIDENTIAL)

In view of the recent H1N1 flu outbreak, our usual NCC June camp has been changed into one that is non-residential. The focus for this camp however, has not changed. As usual, June camp is a working/training camp to prep cadets for our school anniversary parade as well as the Youth Day concert performance. Cadets involved: ALL (Part A, B and C) Date: 22 - 24 June Time: 8am -5.30 pm daily; lunch: 12pm-1.30pm Attire: No. 4 with beret. All are to bring a set of PT kit daily for PT/Game session. Important: All are to bring their own water bottles for water parade. No lunch is provided so cadets must bring lunch money for all three days. Attendance is compulsory. Absentees without valid reasons will dealt with accordingly.

Cadets will have to report to Changi Air Base (West) Main Gate on Monday 15 June 2009 by 1100 hours (in No. 3 Uniform with beret) to LTA Seow Feng Chang (contact number, 65864303). Hence, all cadets must report to school by 10am. The bus will leave on time at 10am. Cadets / officers are reminded that cameras and computers/electronic devices with record and photo-taking capabilities (eg. Palm Top, some new versions of handphones) are NOT allowed to brought into the Air Base. All Cadets must complete the Indemnity Forms and consent form and submit to Mr Ramesh by/at the time of reporting.

REPORTING / DEPARTURE TIME All cadets involved have to report to school by 6.45am and transport to HQ NCC will depart at 7am sharp. Late comers will have to make their way to HQ on their own. All Course participants will report for In-processing at HQ by 0730 hours. Directional signs will be posted to lead them to the reporting point. The course is expected to end at approximately 1800 hours on the last day of the course. All Course participants must report in their No.4 uniform with beret. All male cadets are reminded to spot a neat haircut, failing which they will not be permitted to join the course. Late-comers without a valid excuse will not be entertained after 0900 hours on the day of In-processing. Day-off will not be granted to any course participant except on emergency and compassionate cases. Course participants are expected to be punctual without fail.
